"Hyphenated Unitarian Universalism"

Unitarian Universalism, in our free search for truth, provides a space from which to roam, finding the path that works for you – for now, or for always. Many of us identify as "Hyphenated UUs": UU-Pagan, UU-Muslim, UU-Buddhist. How do we walk that road, staying true to ourselves, and our wider community?

Service Leader: Julie James; Worship Associate: Danielle Dolloff

Sunday, April 9, 2017 – 9 and 11 am

"Dancing for Justice"

Alice Walker wrote, "hard times require furious dancing." Today we explore the way art and joy are connected to struggles for justice and a fulfilling life.

Worship Leader: Reverend Alice Bukey; Worship Associate: Miguel Pagan

Rev. Elizabeth Bukey is the Minister of Congregational Life at Chalice UU Congregation in Escondido, California. Her work at Chalice Congregation focuses on social justice and membership. A lifelong UU, Rev. Bukey holds a Master of Divinity degree from Union Theolological Seminary in New York City. She also sings with the San Diego Women's Chorus, a lesbian-identified, feminist chorus that is open to all women, and is a co-chair of the Chorus' Board of Directors.

"Every Day Is a Good Day: A Zen Buddhist Meditation on Easter"

Today James will wrestle with the great mystery at the heart of the traditional Christian story of Easter. Even as he cannot accept the historicity of the event as traditionally presented, he does find something beautiful and compelling in the story.

Worship Leader: Reverend James Ford; Worship Associate: Lynelle Wise
